xWhat Is Abacus 50ml Suspension?
Abacus is an oral antibiotic suspension from Sami Pharm (Pvt) Ltd., containing Cefpodoxime 40mg per 5ml. It belongs to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics and works by stopping bacteria from building their cell walls, which kills the bacteria causing the infection.
Uses
Prescribed for common bacterial infections including acute otitis media (middle ear infection), pharyngitis and tonsillitis, community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated urinary/genital gonorrhea. It treats bacterial infections only, not viral illnesses such as the common cold.
Dosage
Dosing depends on age, weight, and the infection being treated. Always follow the exact dose and duration your doctor or pharmacist prescribes.
Common Side Effects
Diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, and skin rash are most frequently reported. Contact your doctor promptly if you develop watery or bloody stools, even weeks after finishing the course.
Precautions
Patients with reduced kidney function may need a lower dose. Do not use if you have a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics.

Store at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
