What Is Acne-Lene Super Gel?

Acne-Lene Super Gel is a higher-strength 0.3% Adapalene topical retinoid manufactured by Valor Pharma, used for moderate acne vulgaris, typically for patients who need a stronger effect than the 0.1% strength provides.

How It Works

Adapalene modulates the process of skin cell turnover (keratinization) inside hair follicles to prevent clogged pores, and has anti-inflammatory activity through inhibition of the lipoxygenase pathway involved in acne inflammation.

Dosage

Apply a thin film to clean, dry, affected skin once daily at bedtime, after washing and drying the area. Treatment is usually reassessed after about 3 months. Not recommended for children.

Side Effects

Common effects (affecting up to 1 in 10 people) include dry skin, irritation, burning, and redness. Less common effects include contact dermatitis, skin discomfort, sunburn, itching, and peeling. Rarely, allergic contact reactions or changes in skin pigmentation have been reported.

Precautions

Do not use during pregnancy or if planning pregnancy. Avoid combining with other acne products containing benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin, or clindamycin without medical advice, and avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and sensitive skin areas. Minimize sun and UV exposure while using this gel, and avoid use on cuts, scrapes, or eczema-affected skin.
