xWhat Is Amclav DS Suspension 312.5mg/5ml?
Amclav DS is the double-strength children's suspension of co-amoxiclav made by Getz Pharma, Pakistan. Each 5ml contains Amoxicillin 250mg and Clavulanic Acid 62.5mg; the bottle makes 60ml. This medicine requires a prescription.
How It Works
Amoxicillin, a penicillin antibiotic, destroys bacterial cell walls. Clavulanic acid protects it from beta-lactamase enzymes made by resistant bacteria, widening the range of infections it treats.
Uses
Ear, nose and throat infections, sinusitis, pneumonia and bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections in children who need a larger dose per spoonful.
Dosage and Preparation
Reconstitute with boiled, cooled water up to the mark and shake well. The doctor sets the dose by weight, typically every 8 hours, given at the start of meals. Because DS is twice as strong as Amclav 156.25mg/5ml, never swap between them without checking the dose. Complete the full course. Keep refrigerated after mixing and use within 7 days.
Side Effects
Loose stools, nausea, vomiting, skin rash and thrush. Stop and get medical advice for severe diarrhoea, hives, facial swelling or yellowing of the skin.
Precautions
Not for children allergic to penicillins or cephalosporin-type antibiotics, or with past co-amoxiclav liver problems. Use with care in kidney impairment.
