xWhat Is Amlo-Q Tablets 5mg?
Amlo-Q Tablets 5mg contain Amlodipine 5mg, made by High-Q International, Pakistan. Amlodipine is a once-daily medicine for high blood pressure and angina. This medicine requires a prescription.
How It Works
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It relaxes and widens blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and improves blood supply to the heart muscle, reducing chest pain.
Uses
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Stable angina and vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina
Dosage
The usual starting dose is 5mg once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food. If needed, your doctor may increase to 10mg once daily. Older adults or people with liver problems may start at 2.5mg.
Side Effects
Swelling of ankles or feet, flushing, headache, dizziness, tiredness, palpitations and nausea. These often ease after the first weeks.
Precautions
Do not use if you have very low blood pressure, severe aortic stenosis or cardiogenic shock. Tell your doctor about heart failure or liver disease, and about medicines such as simvastatin, clarithromycin or antifungals. Avoid large amounts of grapefruit juice. Store below 30°C.
Common Questions
Is Amlo-Q the same as Norvasc? Both contain amlodipine; they are different brands.
Can I stop amlodipine when my BP is normal? No, normal readings usually mean the medicine is working; only stop on medical advice.
