xWhat Is Augmentin Tablets 625mg?
Augmentin 625mg tablets, by GlaxoSmithKline, contain Amoxicillin 500mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg. It is one of the most commonly prescribed adult antibiotics in Pakistan. This medicine requires a prescription.
How It Works
Amoxicillin damages bacterial cell walls; clavulanic acid blocks resistance enzymes so the antibiotic remains effective against more bacteria.
Uses
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, ear and throat infections, urinary tract infections, dental abscesses, skin and soft tissue infections, and animal bites.
Dosage
Usually one tablet three times a day (every 8 hours) at the start of a meal, for the number of days prescribed. Swallow with water. Do not stop early even if you feel better.
Side Effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, thrush and skin rash. Seek urgent care for hives, swelling, breathing difficulty, severe or bloody diarrhoea, or yellowing skin.
Precautions
Not for people allergic to penicillins or with previous liver problems from co-amoxiclav. Tell your doctor about liver or kidney disease, glandular fever and blood thinners. Store below 25°C.
