xWhat Is Azatco Oral Suspension 200mg/5ml?
Azatco Oral Suspension contains Azithromycin 200mg per 5ml (15ml bottle), made by Atco Laboratories, Pakistan. It is a macrolide antibiotic commonly used for children's infections. This medicine requires a prescription.
How It Works
Azithromycin stops bacteria making proteins by binding to their ribosomes, preventing growth. It stays in tissues for a long time, allowing short once-daily courses.
Uses
Ear infections, tonsillitis and throat infections, sinusitis, chest infections, some skin infections and typhoid fever, as prescribed.
Dosage and Preparation
Add the stated amount of water, shake well. Usually given once daily for 3 days (or as prescribed) at a weight-based dose, commonly 10mg/kg per day. It can be taken with or without food. Use the syringe or spoon supplied. Discard unused suspension after the period on the pack.
Side Effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and rash. Rarely, heart rhythm changes or liver problems.
Precautions
Not for children allergic to macrolides (azithromycin, erythromycin, clarithromycin). Caution with liver disease, heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation) or medicines affecting heart rhythm. Antacids should be taken at a different time.
