Azatco Tablets 250mg contain Azithromycin 250mg, made by Atco Laboratories, Pakistan, in packs of 6. This medicine requires a prescription.
How It Works
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that blocks bacterial protein synthesis, stopping bacteria from multiplying. Its long half-life allows short courses.
Uses
Respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), throat infections, skin and soft tissue infections, some sexually transmitted infections and typhoid, as prescribed.
Dosage
A common adult course is 500mg on day one followed by 250mg daily for four days, or 500mg once daily for three days, as directed. Can be taken with or without food. Complete the course.
Side Effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, headache and rash. Rarely, liver problems, hearing changes or irregular heartbeat.
Precautions
Avoid with macrolide allergy or past liver problems from azithromycin. Caution in heart rhythm disorders, low potassium or magnesium, myasthenia gravis and with QT-prolonging medicines. Take antacids at a different time.
