Azitma Tablets 500mg contain Azithromycin 500mg, made by Sami Pharmaceuticals, Pakistan. This medicine requires a prescription.
How It Works
Azithromycin blocks bacterial protein synthesis, stopping bacteria from multiplying. It concentrates in tissues and has a long half-life, so short courses are effective.
Uses
Community-acquired pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, skin infections, typhoid fever and certain sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, as prescribed.
Dosage
Commonly 500mg once daily for 3 days, or a single 1g dose for some infections, as directed by your doctor. Take with or without food. Complete the full course.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness and rash. Rarely, liver problems, hearing changes or abnormal heart rhythm.
Precautions
Avoid if allergic to macrolides or with a history of azithromycin-related liver problems. Use caution in heart rhythm disorders (QT prolongation), low potassium or magnesium, myasthenia gravis and liver disease. Separate from aluminium/magnesium antacids.
